The digital talking-book player is used to play audiobooks stored on USB flash-drive cartridges. The players have rechargeable batteries and offer readers high-quality sound, advanced navigation, and variable speed controls. NLS players are available only to individuals who cannot see to read regular print or handle print materials and who are registered for the free library service. These players are supplied to eligible patrons through a network of co-operating libraries under the program administered by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress in executing United States Public Law 89-522.
